They Even Shot Two Of His Men – Insider Reveals What Led To Clash, Shooting At Gov Bello’s Convoy

More details have emerged on what led to the clash and the shooting at the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bellow.

Although different versions of the incident has been circulating, both the police and insiders have spoken on the issue. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has initiated an investigation into the altercation involving Kogi State Governor Bello’s convoy and Nigerian Navy personnel.

The clash occurred due to the governor’s motorcade’s refusal to stop at a military checkpoint, according to FCT Police Commissioner Haruna Garba. He stated that preliminary findings revealed the incident resulted from a disagreement between military personnel at the checkpoint and the governor’s convoy.

Governor Bello dismissed claims of an assassination attempt made by his Information Commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo. Addressing the media in Abuja, Bello clarified that the confrontation involved his convoy and Nigerian military personnel, SaharaReporters report.

The report further revealed that inside sources gave details of what transpired. One of the sources revealed that pandemonium ensued in the Abaji area of Abuja, where Nigerian Navy personnel allegedly even shot two of the governor’s aides during the confrontation. The clash reportedly occurred after the governor’s convoy collided with a naval checkpoint in Banda, Lokoja.

Earlier while giving an update on the incident, Bello stated that the incident involved the Nigerian Police Force attached to his convoy and military personnel responsible for highway security. He clarified that it was a clash of duties rather than an assassination attempt. Investigations are ongoing to discern the details of the altercation.
