Driver Blocks Yola Bridge With Truck, Causes Gridlock To Protest N15,000 Bribe Demanded By Nigerian Security Operatives

A heavy-duty vehicle has completely blocked the Yola bridge in Adamawa State, which connects the state capital with the northern regions of the state, in protest of security operatives’ demand for a N15,000 bribe.

According to SaharaReporters, security operatives on the Yola-Mubi Road allegedly demand a bribe of N15, 000 from truck drivers.

On Thursday, security authorities allegedly sought a payment of N15,000 from the truck driver, but he was only able to raise N9,000, according to an eyewitness.

As a result, the truck driver’s phone was allegedly taken by officials due to a balance of N6,000 that he could not afford.

The police and army officers, as well as officials from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), were negotiating with the truck driver at the time of reporting this story.
