Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With Senators, Reps At Aso Villa Emerge

President Muhammadu Buhari received members of the National Assembly to supper in Aso Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

The President informed the parliamentarians that his administration is prepared to deploy all available resources to eradicate insecurity in Nigeria and bring criminals to justice.

Buhari’s communications assistant, Femi Adesina, revealed this in a statement.

“Insecurity, manifesting as insurgencies, banditry, kidnapping, and urban crime of all kinds is the single most challenging task we face today,” Buhari was quoted as saying in the release.

“Some of the people who perpetrate these various manifestations of insecurity do so for profit, others, in the name of discredited ideologies.

“Whatever their motivations may be, their actions are an existential threat to our country.

“In the circumstances, we must do everything within our power, without consideration of distractions, to put an end to their activities and bring them to book.

“We can’t allow ourselves to be distracted from this objective or waver in our commitment, and I’m confident that together we will triumph in our present efforts.”

Buhari also commended the ninth Assembly for its efforts to nation-building, stating that they had distinguished themselves through their conduct in office as well as their maturity and expertise in dealing with the country’s complex issues.
