Despite Insecurity, Gov. Uzodimma Urges Igbos Abroad To Visit Imo For Christmas

Governor Hope Uzodimma has promised indigenes of the state residing abroad that they will be safe throughout the holiday season.

“When you come home, you will be amazed at the massive road construction and rehabilitation which has been carried out by my administration in less than two years,” said Mr Uzodimma. “We have introduced ‘the people’s budget’, which enables town unions to advise the government on what their people actually need, and these are actually included in the budget.”

The governor’s chief press secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, made the announcement in Owerri.

The governor provided the pledge on Sunday at the 2021 Imo Cultural Day celebrations in Lagos, which were organized by the Imo Towns Development Association (ISTDAL).

Mr Uzodimma congratulated members of the association for promoting Imo cultural legacy in Lagos, as represented by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba.

He warned residents not to believe misinformation and false social media reports about the state’s security situation, saying that the issue had been brought under control.

He also encouraged them to return home on a regular basis to assess the state’s progress and pledged to welcome the association’s executive members during the holiday season.
