Deputy Speaker resigns over health challenges

The Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Enema Paul, has resigned from his position citing health reasons.

During the plenary sitting, Hon Enema Paul tendered his resignation letter, expressing gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello and the 7th Kogi State House of Assembly for their support, love, and prayers during his health challenges.

In his resignation speech, Hon Enema Paul revealed that his health issues began in 2011. Despite seeking medical treatment abroad with the assistance of Governor Bello, the illness persisted, and he felt weaker day by day. The hospital abroad recommended his return for further treatment.

Given his deteriorating health, Hon Enema Paul sought permission to travel abroad for a year and officially resigned.

The House accepted his resignation, and the Clerk, Mr. Chogudo Sule Ahmed, called for nominations for a new Deputy Speaker.

Hon Abu Jibrin of Ajaokuta state constituency nominated Hon Ojoma Comfort Nwuchiola of Ibaji state constituency as the new Deputy Speaker, and the nomination was seconded by Hon Seyi Bello of Kabba/Bunu state constituency.

The Clerk administered the oath of office to the new Deputy Speaker, who expressed gratitude to the state, Governor Bello, and the House leadership for the opportunity. She called for unity and cooperation among lawmakers.
