Cholera Outbreak: 14 Killed, 953 Cases Recorded In Nigeria
In Nigeria’s current cholera outbreak, 14 people have died, with 953 cases reported in Plateau.
910 of those infected have been discharged, while 29 remain in various health facilities across the state.
Commissioner for Health Nimkong Lar made the announcement at a press conference held at Government House in Jos after the state executive meeting on Wednesday.
He claimed that the sickness, which had previously been reported in Jos North, had spread to 13 local government areas, necessitating intervention by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
“The largest number of cholera cases are in Jos North, with 484 cases, followed by Jos South and Bassa local governments, with 307 and 57 cases, respectively,” Mr Lar stated.
In the fight against COVID-19, the health commissioner claimed that 100,154 doses of vaccination were delivered in the state out of a total of 105,600 doses given by the federal government, with 5,000 doses being returned due to expiration.

He explained that the state currently lacked the COVID-19 vaccination.
“In terms of COVID-19 instances, the state has tested 73,177 persons to date, with confirmed cases of 9,068, discharged 9,008, and 57 deaths,” he stated.
