Alleged N2.9b Fraud: Rochas Okorocha Not Yet In Court For Arraignment

Anayo Rochas Okorocha, the Senator representing Imo West in the Senate, is failed to appear before a Federal High Court in Abuja to enter his plea to the Federal Government’s N2.9 billion money laundering criminal allegations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) arraignment is scheduled for today, Monday, before Justice Inyang Ekwo.

However, the DAILY POST correspondent did not find any indications of the former Imo State Governor court at the time of this report.

Okorocha’s initial arraignment was set for February 22, but due to his absence, Justice Ekwo rescheduled it until today, March 28.

The Senator is facing 17 counts of illicit diversion of public funds and properties, according to the federal government.

The courtroom is already packed with politicians suspected of being aides and sympathizers of the former governor at the time of this report.

Cosmos Ugwu, the EFCC’s lawyer, is already in court, but he declined to comment on how the hearings would progress if the defendant was absent for the second time.

The allegations against Okorocha were signed by one A.O Ikota on behalf of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on January 24, 2022.
