Jummai Alhassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba, a former Minister of Women Affairs in President Muhammadu Buhari’s first tenure, has decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from United Democratic Party (UDP).
Naija News reports that Buhari’s former minister made the decision during a stakeholders meeting of UDP in Jalingo, the capital city of Taraba State, northern Nigeria.
This online news platform recalls that Mama Taraba contested the governorship election on the platform of UDP during the 2019 general elections.
Giving a reason for her decision, the former minister said her defection to PDP was based on the outcome of the opinion poll during a stakeholders meeting.
Mama Taraba said she had no option than to go by the decision of the majority members of UDP and decamp to PDP.
Naija News understands that the stakeholders meeting Mama Taraba referred to, took place at the former Minister’s Jalingo residence.

The stakeholders meeting was attended by representatives of UDP members from 168 wards across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Buhari’s former minister is joining the PDP a year after she resigned from Buhari’s “Change government.”
In a letter dated Saturday, 29 September 2018, which she sent to the President, the former Minister thanked President Buhari for the opportunity to serve.
Naija News recalls that Mama Taraba at the time dumped the ruling APC with all local government party leaders as well as some state lawmakers and joined UDP.
