Buhari To Leave Nigeria For Paris On Saturday Over ‘Worsening’ Health Issues

On Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria for an official trip to Paris, France’s capital, to consult with his personal doctor.

Buhari is expected to spend at least four days in Paris, where he will also consult with his doctor, according to reports.

“Buhari is scheduled to travel to Paris for four days. He intended to fly to Kampala, Uganda, and then to London, England, to see his doctors, but they decided to meet him in Paris instead. He’ll be leaving on Saturday, according to a top source who spoke to SaharaReporters.

Buhari had intended to attend Uganda’s tight-fisted dictator Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration and then allow him to travel to the United Kingdom for treatment.

However, the proposal was shelved, and the decision to send Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Uganda to represent Buhari was taken at the last minute when it became clear that the trip to the United Kingdom would not be possible.

Buhari’s health, especially his dementia, has allegedly deteriorated recently, according to top presidency sources, and he has been incoherent at security chiefs meetings in the last two weeks.

“Buhari had planned to fly to Uganda for Museveni’s inauguration and then use the opportunity to visit London, but arrangements were changed at the last minute and Osinbajo was sent,” a top source revealed.

Buhari has traveled abroad for medical treatment at least five times since taking office on May 29, 2015, spanning a total of 170 days during his five years in power.

President Muhammadu Buhari was represented by Osinbajo at the swearing-in of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for a sixth term.

The 76-year-old politician, who has served as President of Uganda since 1986, was sworn in for a sixth term on Wednesday, May 12.

Despite controversies and allegations of fraud during the elections, Museveni was declared the winner of the January election.

Museveni took the oath of office on Wednesday in Kampala, which was televised live on national television. Several African heads of state and other foreign dignitaries attended the ceremony.
