BREAKING: Wike Vows To Shut Down Motor Parks In FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, declared his intention to close down illegal motor parks.

Wike made this announcement during a live broadcast with select reporters in his office as fear continues to grip residents due to criminals disguising themselves as commercial vehicle operators to attack unsuspecting victims.

Wike revealed the formation of a joint task force on cross-border crimes aimed at combating the security menace of ‘One chance’ robberies. This task force includes the participation of all security agencies in the FCT and was established after a security meeting chaired by Wike.

The minister attributed the rising crime rate in the capital city to illegal motor parks and uncompleted buildings used as hideouts by criminals. He emphasized the importance of dismantling these uncompleted buildings, which have become shelters for criminals, to curb their activities.

Wike explained, “We have identified that most of the areas where criminals stay are shanties and uncompleted buildings. That is why we cannot allow these uncompleted buildings, where criminals have made their place of abode, to stand. We will demolish these uncompleted buildings, which have turned into shanties, leaving criminals with nowhere to hide.”

Additionally, he expressed concerns about illegal motor parks, emphasizing the need to shut down these unauthorized facilities. Wike emphasized the security implications of these operations, stating that policies against illegal motor parks were essential to enhancing security measures in the FCT.
