The reconciliation committee formed by Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, has finally convened in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital.
According to Naija News, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri led the Atiku delegation that met with Wike’s supporters on Friday at Government House in Port Harcourt.
Recall that Atiku chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over Wike as his running mate for the presidential race, sending the PDP into a crisis.
The governor of Rivers, who finished second in the party’s presidential primaries, has declined to publicly support Atiku’s bid for the presidency.
Some top members of the party who are unhappy with the PDP leadership have also joined Wike in calling for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
