BREAKING: We Will Review Appeal Court’s ruling, Decide On Next Action — ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, or ASUU, has stated that it will review the Appeal Court’s decision ordering the union to cease its strike in order to decide its course of action.

According to NEWS DIRECT, the appeal court ordered the union to report to work as previously instructed by the National Industrial Court on Friday with immediate effect.

The president of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, responded to the new court verdict by telling NEWS DIRECT that the union has not yet received the Appeal Court decision in writing.

He stated that after obtaining the verdict, the union would review the paperwork with its attorneys and determine its course of action.

He said, “We have not received the ruling, when we get it, we will review it with our lawyer and then we can take the next step”.

NEWS DIRECT recalls that the Federal Government, following its inability to reach a truce with the university lecturer, dragged ASUU to the National Industrial Court on September 11.

The court on September 24, ordered the striking lecturers to return to class while negotiation with the Federal Government continues.

Miffed by the ruling, the union headed to the appellate court to appeal the ruling.
