BREAKING: UK Govt ‘In Talks’ With FG Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Rearrest, Pledges To Assist IPOB Leader

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been detained by the Nigerian government, according to the British High Commission.

The British High Commission’s spokesperson, Dean Hurlock, said the commission is “in the process of obtaining clarification” from the federal government over Kanu’s re-arrest.

According to TheCable, Hurlock stated in the message that the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office “stands ready to give consular support.”

On Sunday, Nigerian security officers apprehended the IPOB leader, who holds a British passport, and deported him to Nigeria.

Kanu was extradited to the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he would be tried by Justice Binta Nyako.

The IPOB leader is being prosecuted for treason.

Emmanuel Kanu, Kanu’s brother, revealed that the IPOB leader was apprehended in Kenya over the weekend.
