Buhari Mourns US Secretary Of State Madeleine Albright

President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has joined the world in mourning the death of Madeleine Albright, the United States’ first female Secretary of State.

The President expressed his condolences to US President Joe Biden and the Albright family in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

Buhari expressed his condolences to the world diplomatic community, recalling a good conversation with an international diplomat in Washington in 2015.

Albright, he said, was a friendly and intelligent woman who excelled in a field that had previously been deemed the exclusive domain of men.
“She helped shape and guide Western foreign policy after the Cold War,” Buhari added. She is going to be sadly missed.

He lauded the accomplishments of the woman who served as US Ambassador to the United Nations and later as Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton.

He stated, “It is to her eternal credit that she championed human rights and democracy all across the world.”

The deceased was able to gather funds for democratic presidential candidates, according to the President.

Albright also co-chaired the Independent Global Commission on Justice, Security, and Governance, which was known as the Albright-Gambari Independent Commission, alongside Nigerian Professor Ibrahim Gambari.

The president also mentioned that the late Secretary of State was the organizer of the Aspen Ministerial Forum, which brought together former foreign ministers from around the world.

He praised Albright’s mentoring of younger diplomats, the majority of whom are now at the pinnacle of their careers.

“Even while America and the globe continue to savor her services to humanity,” he said, he prayed for her soul to rest in peace.

Albright died of cancer on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, according to NEWS DIRECT. According to a statement written by her family and uploaded on her official Twitter profile, this is the case.
