BREAKING: Police Charge 48 Yoruba Agitators To Court

Mr Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has charged the 48 Yoruba Nation protesters apprehended on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at Ojota, Lagos, in a Magistrate Court in Yaba.

“They were charged with Unlawful Assembly, Unlawful Society, and Conducts likely to cause breach of Public Peace,” said Maxwell Adeleye, the Communications Manager for Ilana Omo Oodua, IOO.

“However, one of the arrested protestors, Tajudeen Bakare (the popular Ogboni Chief), was charged by the police with the murder of a Sachet Water Hawker, Jumoke Oyeleke, who was murdered during the protest by a stray bullet,” Adeleye stated.

“The Court affirmed the bail granted to all of the protesters, although Bakare’s was cancelled. Bakare’s case is sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, or DPP, for further guidance.”
