BREAKING: Many Feared Dead As Unknown Gunmen Attack Soldiers In Abia

Unidentified gunmen opened fire on an Army patrol van in Aba, Abia State’s commercial capital.

The event occurred in the early hours of Friday while the soldiers were on patrol, according to reports.

The assailants were believed to have set up an ambush for the soldiers.

On the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, the incident occurred at the popular Tonimas junction, Osisioma LGA axis.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State established a commission on Wednesday to determine the exact source of the armed conflict in the South East, which has resulted in instability in the region.

The committee’s membership was drawn from the five South-East states of Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.

Prof Chidi Odinkalu chairs the committee, with Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu serving as secretary. The committee is known as the Truth, Justice, and Peace Committee.
