UPDATE: 2 Confirmed Dead As Train Crushes Govt Bus In Lagos
Two bodies have now been retrieved from the wreckage of the train crash which crushed a staff bus of the Lagos state government today in Ikeja.
The dead commuters have been identified as staff of the State Government.
Information from sources on ground have confirmed that the State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail.
Two railway flag Officers were reportedly trying to stop the driver of the bus from crossing but it was said that the driver ignored the directive and drove into the rail.
The train was coming from Agege and met a BRT vehicle with the Lagos state government workers on board crossing the rail to link Ikeja GRA, one of the sympathisers said.
The accident has caused a gridlock on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway for motorists coming from Oshodi around Shogunle to Ikeja-Along.
