BREAKING: Igboho’s Wife, Monarchs Arrive Beninese Court As Sitting Resumes

Ropo, the 48-year-old Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho’s German-based wife, arrived at the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, as the court resumed sitting in the activist’s case.

The PUNCH further learned that Yoruba monarchs stationed in Benin Republic, as well as other Yoruba Nation followers, were present at the court in support of the activist.

Igboho, on the other hand, is yet to be prosecuted as of the time of writing this report.

According to the PUNCH, a Beninisian court determined on Thursday that Ropo should be released unconditionally because she was facing no charges.

The court, on the other hand, ordered that Igboho be remanded in police custody until today, when the French-speaking court will begin hearings.

The court is presently investigating the claims leveled against Igboho by the Nigerian government, which alleges that the activist is a gun runner, among other things. The court is also scheduled to rule on whether or not Igboho should be extradited.

Igboho and his wife were detained at Cotonou’s Cadjèhoun Airport around 8 p.m. on July 19, 2021, as they attempted to board a flight to Germany.

The Department of State Services had previously proclaimed Igboho sought for allegedly stockpiling weaponry, which he disputed. His house had also been invaded by the secret police, who killed two of his pals and arrested nearly a dozen others.
