BREAKING: Gunmen Invade Oyo Prison, Set Inmates Free
In Oyo State, suspected gunmen invaded one of the Nigeria Correctional Service’s (NCS) facilities.
The prison, named Abolongo Correctional Facility, was stormed by gunmen on Friday evening, according to NEWS DIRECT.
During the attack, the gunmen reportedly released all of the facility’s inmates.
According to information obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, the attackers stormed the facility around 10 p.m. on Friday.
The attackers allegedly used grenades to gain entrance and free the prisoners.
On Saturday, Olanrewaju Anjorin, a spokesman for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) in the state, confirmed the attack to us.
In a Saturday morning phone call with DAILY POST, Anjorin stated that the agency’s senior executives were on their way to assess the extent of the damage.
He said, “Yes. It has been confirmed that the attack actually happened.
“And right now, the comptroller of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and other top officers are assessing the situation.
“But, I can confirm to you that the incident actually happened”.
