BREAKING: Former NFF President Oneya Dies At 73

Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (retd.) was the former President of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Oneya, who was born on May 26, 1948 in Ughelli’s Agbarho Kingdom, died on Thursday morning at his house in Effurun GRA in Delta State’s Uvwie Local Government Area.

Amaju Pinnick, the current president of the NFF, announced Oneya’s death.

“Yes, he is dead,” Pinnick told The PUNCH.

From 1999 to 2002, Oneya was the leader of the NFF.

He has served on many CAF committees and most recently led the Ministerial Committee on Nigerian Football Reforms.

From 1996 until 1998, Oneya served as the military administrator of Kano State.

During the rule of Abdulsalami Abubakar, the late army commander was also the military administrator of Benue State between 1998 and 1999.
