BREAKING: Facebook, WhatsApp Restored For Users Globally After Six Hours’ Shut Down

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger were all down on Monday afternoon, with users all over the world reporting crashes.

After a six-hour outage that knocked off billions of people throughout the world, the sites were restored about 10.45 p.m., according to SaharaReporters.

Facebook, which is controlled by American billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, owns the infrastructure that all of the online services use.

According to the website Downdetector, the crash began about 16:41BST, as reported by SaharaReporters. According to the site, there were only two difficulties reported at 16:26, but that number had grown to almost 27,000 just fifteen minutes later.

According to The National, those who tried to visit Facebook using their browser were greeted with a blank error page, however those who used the WhatsApp or Instagram mobile apps were able to view old content but not new stuff.

“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Facebook app. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Facebook had said via @facebookapp

Posting on Twitter, which has not seen any issues, the Facebook app had said it was aware of outages affecting “some people”.
