BREAKING: EFCC Chairman, Bawa Speaks On Slumping At A Public Event In Abuja

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has revealed that his doctors recommended him to drink more water after he slumped at an event.

He explained that he had some dizziness and that doctors had told him he was dehydrated.

Bawa collapsed at the third National Identity Day event at the Banquet Hall Villa on Thursday afternoon, according to NEWS DIRECT.

Bawa was giving a goodwill message when he abruptly came to a halt, staggered back to his seat, and collapsed.

Bawa said he was dizzy and had to go to the hospital on Channels Television’s Politics Today a few hours after the incident.

He said, “Today, September 16, is the National Identity Day and while giving my goodwill message at the programme organised by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, I felt a bit of dizziness.

“I excused myself and left the stage. Of course, I went straight to the hospital where the doctors confirmed to me that everything about me was okay except that I was a bit dehydrated and need to take a lot of water.”

Bawa said he went to his office after leaving the hospital to get some things in order before returning home.

He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their prayers and well wishes, which he said had “kept me going.”

On February 16, 2021, Bawa was nominated as the EFCC’s substantive Chairman, and on February 24, 2021, the National Assembly confirmed him as the Executive Chairman.

He formally took over from Ibrahim Magu, the Commission’s former acting Chairman.
