BREAKING: Boko Haram/ISWAP Invades Community In Yobe

On Sunday evening, a large number of armed Boko Haram members, alleged to be members of the ISWAP faction, assaulted Tarmuwa, the headquarters of the Babangida Local Government Area in Yobe state.

According to sources, rebels armed with anti-aircraft trucks and grenades shot sporadically at security formations and neighborhoods, causing chaos as civilians flee for their lives.

Tarmuwa is a Yobe state local government district with its headquarters in Babangida at 12°0627N”N11°45’14” E.

In the past, the town has been the target of a series of fatal Boko haram attacks.

Residents who did not want their names published told our correspondent that the entire town was in chaos and that people were running helter-skelter when they saw Airforce jets, in order to avoid the misfiring incident that occurred earlier this month in Buhari village, Yunusari LGA, where ten innocent civilians were killed and several others were injured when the airforce struck when airfoils were not properly deployed.

Dr Mohammed Goje, the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the new attack on Tarmuwa by suspected terrorists this evening in a phone contact with Vanguard, but couldn’t give details on the number of casualties as of press time.

His words: ” Yes I received a distress call from one of my staff this evening that some armed members of terrorists invaded Tarmuwa town, please give me time to get details, so I can furnish you”. Goje said.
