BREAKING: Zamfara Senator Dumps PDP, Fails To Announce New Party

Hassan Mohammed Gusau, the senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday in plenary.

Gusau’s letter alerting his colleagues of his action during the plenary was read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

According to the letter, Gusau justified his decision by citing purported factionalization and infighting in the PDP’s Zamfara State chapter.

He did not, however, say if he will now align himself with the All Progressives Congress.

He told his coworkers that he will soon announce his decision on the political party he aspires to join.

Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, is expected to formally switch from the PDP to the APC.

Last week, it was also reported that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, had finalized arrangements to switch from the PDP to the APC.

However, Nwaoboshi has yet to issue an official statement verifying or refuting the prevalent rumors.
