Basketball: Australia Defeat Nigeria 108-69 In Exhibition Game

On Wednesday, Australia beat Nigeria 108-69 to win their third game in a row at the Las Vegas exhibition series, as both sides continue their Olympic preparations.

Mike Brown hasn’t lost a game since taking over as D’Tigers coach in 2020.

The efficient Aussies showed tenacity and technical prowess as they swept the D’Tigers aside in the opening quarter, creating a 13-point lead and eventually winning 26-13. The world’s third-ranked team maintained their domination in the second quarter, winning by a comfortable 20-point margin — 49-29.

The Australians took a 38-point advantage at the end of the first quarter, 84-46, and then went on to win by 39 points, 108-69.

With Chris Gouding’s 21 points, three rebounds, and four steals, the Australians made it three wins in a row. He made all seven shots from the three-point line with 100 percent accuracy.

Josh Okogie and Obi Emegano each scored ten points for the Tigers, while Jahlil Okafor added seven points and five rebounds, and Ike Iroegbu added seven points in a game they will want to forget quickly.

Nigeria enjoyed a strong start to the exhibition series, defeating powerhouses like the United States and Argentina before losing their first match.

On July 25, the D’Tigers will play the Boomers in their opening game at the Olympics, and they will be hoping for a better result.
