Umaru Nabita Moriki, an engineer and Director of Works of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, and Hajia Rumba Jengeru, a local entrepreneur, were among those murdered in the tragedy on Sunday evening.

According to reports, the gunmen “opened fire on travelers on the Kaura Namoda-Moriki-Shinkafi Road.”

Bandits have thrived in Zamfara state, resulting in deadly attacks.

Groups have terrorized the state’s farming and herding communities for years, raiding villages, stealing animals, and kidnapping locals for ransom.

The state administration and the gunmen reached an agreement in 2019.

In 2020, the governor gave leaders of various’repentant’ bands of robbers about 15 brand new Hilux trucks as well as cash rewards.

Despite this, towns throughout the state continue to be assaulted, with residents being kidnapped and/or killed.
