Assault: CCT chairman, Danladi is an embarrassment to legal profession – NBA
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the assault perpetrated by the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar on a security guard.
The victim who works at the Banex Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja is identified as an employee of Ju Reliable Guards Services Limited.
Mr Danladi claimed that the security guard was rude to him.
In reaction to the viral video of the assault, the NBA Publicity Secretary, Rapulu Nduka, said the CCT chairman is an embarrassment to the legal profession.
The NBA condemned the “display of naked power by a public officer, especially one who, by virtue of his high office, is expected to exhibit a high standard of conduct”.
Mr Nduka stressed that the body regretted this punishable act involving the head of an agency of government set up to ensure compliance, by public officers, with the code of conduct.
“As a member of the legal profession, the chairman is supposed to maintain a high standard of professional conduct and the the prima facie evidence available raises questions regarding whether such standards have been met.”
The NBA has, therefore, announced a probe into the irregularities and promised to ensure an appropriate action is taken to address the incident.
