APC In Crisis As Ize-Iyamu, Gov Contenders Move Against Oshiomhole

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2020 Edo governorship election, has officially obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms for the upcoming gubernatorial polls in Edo State.

Ize-Iyamu emphasized the divine nature of leadership anointment, stating that it is only God, not man, who anoints leaders.

Speaking at the APC national secretariat in Abuja after obtaining the forms, a group led by Hon. Emmanuel Momoh criticized the decision of the Oshiomhole-backed committee, arguing that the selection of a few aspirants goes against the APC Constitution.

Momoh stated, “That he (Ize-Iyamu) is not among the anointed, it is only God that anoints. Let me make it clear to every Nigerian, what was done does not reflect in the constitution of the APC. The committee that was set up is not the organ of the APC, there was nothing done, it was an action of one man who is a voter like me.”

”No single voter has the right to anoint a candidate; we are all members of APC, and we stand on that. It is today that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu officially presented himself to the party as an aspirant, an intending candidate of the party, and the process begins today.”

Furthermore, another aspirant, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, not selected among the chosen contenders, has also purchased APC forms, emphasizing his intention to contest based on his pedigree, irrespective of anointing.

Many unselected aspirants who rejected the decision of the Ihonvbere panel are expected to join the race for the coveted APC ticket in the Edo gubernatorial polls.
