28-Yr-Old Arabic Teacher Remanded In Prison For Sodomising 11-Yr-Old Pupil
Mohammed Algoni, a 28-year-old Arabic instructor, was remanded on Monday at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre after being accused of sodomizing an 11-year-old student in the Ifako district of Lagos State.
A sodomy charge was used to bring the defendant before the Ikeja Chief Magistrate Court.
The victim, who attended an Arabic boarding school, came home for the Sallah break and informed his mother that he would not be returning to school, according to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem.
Furthermore, according to Akeem, the victim told his mother about the defendant—who was one of his teachers—allegedly sodomizing him sexually.
The prosecutor said the offence was reported at the police station and the defendant was arrested.
Akeem said the offence committed contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
During the court proceedings, the Chief Magistrate, B. O. Osunsanmi, did not take the defendant‘s plea.
Osunsabmi ordered that Algoni should be remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
The magistrate adjourned the case till September 28, for receipt of the DPP’s advice.
