100 Million Nigerians Will Be Out Of Poverty In 10 years – Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo restated President Muhammadu Buhari’s ambition to bring 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years on Friday.

The VP, on the other hand, stated that this will not be a business-as-usual approach, but rather a common-sense plan that will provide the results promised by President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Osinbajo, the government and stakeholders must be very deliberate about their goals and how they will be achieved.

Prof. Osinbajo spoke in Abuja on Friday at the inaugural meeting of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy Steering Committee held at the Presidential Villa.

Osinbajo said the government would adopt a different and more effective approach in actualizing the objective of eradicating poverty.

He assured that efforts will be made to focus attention on creating opportunities for Nigerians to earn decent livelihoods.

Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, the Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman; Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, and Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule attended.

Secretary to the Government, Boss Mustapha; Ministers of Agriculture, Muhammad Nanono; Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, and Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige were also present.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba joined the meeting virtually.
