A Former Senior Media Adviser to Former Vice President Namadi Sambo, Umar Sani has alleged that the PDP governors have disagreed with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike stance that he’s the highest stakeholder in the party.
He stated that the PDP governors have argued that they have their own interests and ambitions ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He noted that the governors have formed an alliance to assert their authority within the party as the political leaders of the party.
The Main Opposition Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] held its crucial National Executive Committee [NEC] meeting today, there is confusion and unease over what the outcome of the meeting and how it will shape the future of the party. The NEC meeting is to deliberate on how the party will approach the 2027 election and to also resolve the issue about the Chairmanship of the party.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ”Wike is propounding the theory that after the loss of the party, he has been the one marketing the party and shouldering responsibility both financially and otherwise. Wike is saying that he’s the highest stakeholder in the party but PDP Governors disagrees because they also have their own interest.
At the end of the day they either want to contest for the Presidency. So they have aligned themselves to say okay we are now the ones sponsoring the party, we are the leaders of our party. And that we are the ones providing for even those states that have no PDP government. And as such they believe it is their responsibility to determine the future of the party.”
