What good music means to me — Jelly Bee

Sierra Leonean music sensation, Jelly Bee who is making waves on account of her latest EP titled “Sappy” has opened up on what good music should be all about.

According to her. ” Good music is music with good sound, well mixed and mastered production wise. The lyrics, word play, message, vibe, style/pattern, the music should make sense or better still a sweet nonsense and most of it all it should be entertaining.”

Jelly Bee, born Betty Lamboi says she is not just an entertainer but preaches and teaches good things of life with her music.

“Musically, I’m a hope giver, a preacher, a teacher and an entertainer rolled into one because I do certain songs that give hope, preach love and peace, teach lessons of life and of course, make people happy.

“I became inspired by real life experiences and things that happen around me and the society as a whole and my production process is a mix of Africa and European sounds to make it more unique,” she said.

She recounts her experience, “Tough, very tough because i had to deal with different people such as producers, DJs, bloggers/promoters, dancers, all on my own. Not to talk of sleepless nights, trainings/practices and health issues. The expectations from people going from stage to stage and also financial issues made it even tougher. And those who have shaped my life are my family, my close friends and my current management @ABangz Originals.

“My first big signing with ABangz Originals gave me a breakthrough and recognition in the Sierra Leonean entertainment Industry

“My single, “Batter Than” is still my favorite among others because it tells my story and it reminds me of the past, what me and my entire family have been through especially my Dad. Listening to the song makes me emotional.”

Jelly Bee who dreams of collaborations with the likes of Shadow Boxer, Drizilik, Natasha, Davido, Olamide, Sarkodie and some others believes her style of music sets her apart from other upcoming acts in Africa.
