We Will Invoke The gods – Nnamdi Kanu’s Kinsmen Warn Buhari Govt

Under the umbrella of the Ibeku Youth Council (IYC), youths from the hometown of arrested Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu have urged Nigeria’s federal government to exercise care in the treasonous felony accusations brought against Kanu.

The group stressed that Nnamdi Kanu must not die in detention and that the government must firmly follow the rule of law in prosecuting the secessionist leader’s treason case.

The youth organization also demanded that the Kenyan government unconditionally release the IPOB leader’s British passports, as well as denounced the unlawful and inhumane treatment Kanu had from Kenyan security officials prior to his repatriation to Nigeria.

According to NewsDirect, IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who originates from the Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku clan in the state’s Umuahia North local government area, was rearrested and deported from Kenya in a joint operation involving the Nigerian government and international forces.

The Ibeku Youth Council (IYC), in a statement jointly signed by its President, Chinedu Emeruwa, and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Samuel Aguiyi, and issued to journalists in Umuahia on Monday, noted that the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra Assembly has maintained a nonviolent agitation for separatism due to the obvious marginalization of the Igbo nation in the current Nigeria demography.

The IYC expressed displeasure with the ongoing brutality being perpetrated against Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS), reminding the Nigerian government that its treatment of Kanu was an infringement on his rights, claiming that IPOB, like Boko Haram terrorists, herdsmen, and bandits who have killed many innocent Nigerians, had never carried out killings.

The socio-cultural organization urged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to employ the same wands it used to apprehend Nnamdi Kanu to combat terrorists and killer herdsmen wreaking devastation in the north and southeast.

The IYC, on the other hand, recommended the federal government to engage in meaningful discussion with the agitators in order to address the core issues that have caused the country’s unrest.

According to the Ibeku Youth Council, “Kanu’s is just exercising his rights as guaranteed by the law of the land. We maintain our position that the rule of law must be followed in this matter, anything short of this, we will invoke the gods of our land to let justice prevail. Because, we will no longer continue to watch maltreatment and humiliation of our kinsman whose only crime is his agitations for succession for the people”.

In the meantime, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has inaugurated a legal team to monitor the court proceedings in the ongoing trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

This was contained in a communique made available to journalists in Enugu on Sunday by National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, which he said, was the decision reached at the end of its executive meeting held over the weekend.

He said: “At the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Enugu, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has observed with keen interest the recent re-arraignment and consequent trial of our son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu;
