Tinubu’s Govt Reveals Plans To Work With Peter Obi, Atiku After Supreme Court Victory

The government led by President Bola Tinubu has pledged to collaborate with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

This assurance came after the Supreme Court’s verdict confirming Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election. The apex court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, upheld the Presidential Election Petitions Court’s ruling of September 6, dismissing the petitions filed by Atiku and Obi against Tinubu.

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, stated on Friday night that the President is open to working with opposition leaders. He emphasized that President Tinubu has consistently welcomed individuals to join efforts for the betterment of Nigeria. Idris clarified that the President is inclusive, willing to accommodate everyone regardless of their religious, social, or political backgrounds, and reiterated the President’s commitment to being a leader for all Nigerians.

When questioned if Tinubu was ready to work with both Atiku and Obi, said, Idris answered, “Since the President won this election, he has always invited people to come and join him for the good of Nigeria. Mr President is not the kind of person to say ‘I have become president, everybody should go away’. No. They (Atiku and Obi) are the ones that have not heeded that call.

Idris expressed gratitude to the judiciary for their diligent work and emphasized the need for unity in facing the economic challenges not only in Nigeria but also globally. He urged everyone to come together and focus on governing without distractions, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to overcome the existing challenges.
