Tinubu Told To Immediately Sack IGP Over Police Recruitment Saga

President Bola Tinubu has been told to immediately sack the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun following the police recruitment saga.

The workers’ union of the Police Service Commission (PSC) urged President Bola Tinubu to swiftly dismiss Egbetokun, citing what they described as deliberate misrepresentation and falsehood regarding the recently concluded recruitment.

Last Saturday, the police issued a statement alleging that the recruitment process was tainted by corruption and other irregularities, thereby rejecting the outcomes. The Joint Union Congress (JUC) of the PSC has denied these allegations.

Adoyi Augustine Adoyi, chairman of the JUC, spoke to journalists on Wednesday, criticizing the IGP’s actions as unprofessional. “We begin this press conference with a clarion call on the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, to immediately relieve the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, of his appointment as IGP,” he stated.

Adoyi further expressed concern, saying, “Our concern comes from the fact that a public officer who misleads the president is causing confusion in the country and may lead to chaos which is antithetical to his duty as a police officer.”
