In Ogun, Dangote Truck Crushes Two To Death
On Friday evening, two people were killed by a truck on the Dangote-Ibeshe route in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun.
The incident was reported to NAN in Abeokuta on Saturday by Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesman for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE).
According to witnesses, the truck driver drove dangerously, leaving his lane and colliding with the motorcycle, killing both the rider and his passenger.
“An enraged mob eventually set fire to the Dangote truck, while the driver fled,” he stated.
He stated, “The case is being handled by the Dangote plant police post.”
The police and officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had to intervene to calm strained nerves and the situation, he said.
One of the victims was taken to the Ilaro General Hospital mortuary, while the other was buried by family members, according to a TRACE spokeswoman.
He expresses his condolences to the victims’ families while urging truck drivers to reject the temptation of reckless and risky driving and to consider other road users.
