Aregbesola Under Fire For Buying 10 Trucks For N1.8billion

Some Hours back, the Nigerian Minister of Interior Ogebeni Rauf Aregbesola took to his verified Twitter handle to share with Nigerians the latest update concerning governance and social infrastructure in the country.

While breaking the news on the latest assets just bought by the government, he shared the lovely pictures of the latest set of 10 Ultra modern fire service trucks bought by the Nigerian government at the rate of N1.8billion.

He also took his time to share some of the major operations of the Federal fire service and their national response strategy saying that between June and October 2019, the Federal fire service responded to 2,615 fire calls, saved 724 lives, and saved assets worth N1.629 trillion.

Some Nigerians would however not have it cool as they took to social media to ask for clarification on how 10 trucks will cost N1.8billion which is equivalent to one truck costing N180million. Here are some of the comments below @Gbadamosiwole wrote “Ogbeni, below is the exact truck you bought. It is TGM 18.280 fire fighter truck, and the price is €195,000 in VAN VLIET. Even if CBN sold euros to you at € 1 = ₦ 439 ( which I don’t think so), then each truck should cost you ₦85,605,000 and ten should cost ₦856,000,000”

@Lasun90 wrote “My honourable minister you mean one is over 200 million naira does the fire fighter truck come with chemicals that will be used to fight fire out break . This loots is becoming unbearable ah one fire fighter for over 200 million is it going to war tank? Na wa for our minister” @Siddon_look noted “I even did the calculation based on the figures on the picture you posted & was shocked! $143,400X N500 =N71+m (less than N72m). Yet they claimed to buy each at N180m (180m X 10 = 1.8b). So, for every truck, someone made 100m! Powerful!” @the_Olusegun wrote “Y’all bought just 10 for trucks for 1.8 billion Naira? As in 180 million for one truck? Do you want to quench hell fire?” Below are some of the screenshot from people.
