Sport Is No More For Pleasure, Rather, Medicinal – Gov. Douye Diri

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, hosted leaders of the South South Inter Club Tennis Association ( SSICTA) at the Government House in Yenogoa today, Saturday, November 6, 2021, in an effort to promote solidarity within the South South Region via sports.

Speaking during the courtesy call, the President of the South South Inter Club Tennis Association, Sir Emem Akpabio on behalf of the Association thanked His Excellency, the Miracle Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri for the audience he granted the Association to intimate him as the Chief Security of the State about the Association which cut across all the clubs in the South South Region of the Country. Sir Akpabio who described the Governor as a sport loving Governor further added that the association is to promote unity in the south south through tennis and used the opportunity to informed the Governor of the forthcoming Niger Delta open coming up early next year and solicited for his support in any form for the successful hosting of the maiden outing.

Responding, the miracle Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri thanked the leadership of the South South Inter Club Tennis Association led by Sir Emem Akpabio and welcomed delegates to the Bayelsa Government House which has been christened as the Creek Heaven. He appreciated and keyed into the idea of harnessing hidden potentials through sports, he also urged the Association to keep it going so that the region that has become the headquarters of sports in Nigeria may continue to have his rightful place in the country in the area of sports.
