136 Abducted Children Of Tegina School Will Soon Regain Freedom – Niger CP

The 136 Tanko Salihu Islamiyya school children kidnapped in Tegina, Rafi local government would be released soon, according to Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas.

This comes only two days after the Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, gave the government a one-week deadline to assure the kids’ release or face a media blackout on the matter.

During a tour of duty to tactical units and special formations across security-affected areas in the state, Kuryas announced this in Mariga local government area, saying procedures had been taken to rescue the children unhurt.

He added that intelligence is being gathered while the police try to find out where the children are being held captive so they can be rescued.

“The children will be released very soon. Intelligence is everywhere, we are doing our best in trying to locate where these children are and by the grace of God, I can assure you that efforts are being put in place, both by the state government and the security agencies to see the release of these children.”

Expressing satisfaction over the security architecture of the state, he noted that the state government as well as his predecessor had done well in their efforts to bring terrorism, banditry and other criminal activies to its barest minimum.

“I have checked the security architecture of the state and I intend to improve upon what my predecessor had done. The state has done a lot to see that these violent crimes are reduced to the barest minimum”

“That is why I have embarked on this tour of duty to check my tactical team and to know the terrain of the state,” the commissioner observed.
