Report Exposes How VP Shettima’s Office Paid Bills Worth Millions For Tinubu’s Daughter

The Office of the Vice President of Nigeria disbursed a sum of N10 million to settle hotel bills incurred by guests of Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the daughter of President Bola Tinubu.

On November 17, 2023, the vice president’s office made the payment to Royal Pacific Group. The transaction description indicated, “Payment in favour of Fraser Suites, Abuja, Nigeria, for the settlement of hotel accommodation bills for the service rendered to guests of Mrs. Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.”

FIJ discovered this transaction record on the BudgIT Govspend platform, sourced from the publicly accessible Open Treasury Portal.

Folashade Tinubu-Ojo holds the position of the national leader of Nigerian traders and is commonly known as the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria. Despite not holding an elected government office, she has referred to herself as the first daughter of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since May 2023.

Records traced back to June 11, 2019, revealed routine payments from various MDAs to Royal Pacific Group for guest accommodations. However, this particular payment marked the first instance of settling bills for guests of a private citizen.

Attempts to contact Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President in the Office of the Vice President, were unsuccessful. FIJ also sought to reach Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, but he was unavailable at the time of contact. A text message sent to him remained unanswered at the time of press.
