10-year-old Boy Kills, Buries Nephew In Jigawa Bush

A 10-year-old kid was found guilty of culpable homicide in Gumel Local Government Area by the Jigawa State High Court in Gumel.

The court, presided over by Honourable Justice A. M. Sambo, ruled that the offense violated Section 221(b) of the Jigawa State Penal Code Law.

The prosecution presented evidence that the defendant transported his 3-year-old nephew (name withheld) from his grandmother’s house to his mother’s house.

He claimed that while on their journey, the defendant placed his nephew under a tree to pick some grasses from a nearby bush, but the dead began wailing, causing the defendant to become agitated. As a result, he strangled the victim until he died.

Following that, the defendant dug a shallow hole and buried the 3-year-old youngster.

The deceased’s parents questioned the defendant about their son’s whereabouts until the next day, when the defendant brought the deceased’s father, their ward head, a police officer, and a few others to the location where he buried the deceased.

The small boy’s body was unearthed and transferred to a Gumel General Hospital for medical evaluation.

As a result, the judge condemned the defendant on Thursday and ordered him to be held at the Kafin Hausa reformatory center at the Governor’s discretion.
