Social Media Users Drag Edo APC Chairman Over Allegations of Oil Theft

Social media users are dragging the Edo All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Jarret Tenebe, over allegations of involvement in oil theft.

The allegations have sparked intense conversations across X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram, with many users demanding accountability from the APC leadership.

The controversy began when past media reports linked the APC chairman to large-scale oil theft operations in the Niger Delta.

Tenebe was accused of being complicit in the ongoing plundering of Nigeria’s crude oil reserves.

Social media users, using hashtags like #TenebeAndOilTheft have taken to the internet to call out what they describe as “a betrayal of public trust.”

Tenebe’s alleged involvement in oil bunkering has drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing the Edo APC Chairman of sabotaging the nation’s economy.

“They preach anti-corruption but are neck-deep in sabotaging the nation’s economy,” one comment read.

X users, in particular, have been relentless in their criticism, with #TenebeAndOilTheft trending across the platform.

One viral tweet read, “How can the Edo APC Chairman claim to fight for the people when his party leaders are stealing billions from Nigeria’s oil? #TenebeAndOilTheft”.

Another tweet asked: “If these allegations are true, what hope is left for Edo’s future? We demand answers, not silence! #TenebeAndOilTheft”.

The uproar has prompted calls for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to launch an immediate investigation into the allegations.

Many users also expressed hope that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will take action against those found guilty of siphoning Nigeria’s resources, regardless of their political affiliations.

“We need a thorough investigation. If the Edo APC Chairman and his associates are involved, they must face the law like any other criminal,” tweeted a user in response to the allegations.

#TenebeAndOilTheft will likely continue to dominate discussions, and the pressure on Edo’s APC leadership is only expected to intensify in the days to come.
