Senator Tambuwal Mourns Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja

In a heartfelt message, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has extended condolences to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away yesterday.

Expressing deep sympathy, Tambuwal, a former Sokoto state governor conveyed condolences on behalf of his family to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, members of the Armed Forces, and the Nigerian people.

Reflecting on the legacy of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, Tambuwal described him as a “soldier’s soldier”—a leader known for his exceptional courage and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s defense.

“Lt. Gen. Lagbaja led with honor and strength,” he said, noting the inspiration he brought to those under his command and the admiration he earned from colleagues and fellow citizens alike. His exemplary service embodied the highest values of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Calling his passing “a tremendous loss for Nigeria,” Tambuwal emphasized the legacy of valor, resilience, and sacrifice that Lt. Gen. Lagbaja leaves behind. “His memory will live on in the hearts of all Nigerians who value patriotism, bravery, and service,” he added.
