President Buhari Appoints New Leaders
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed chief executives for some government agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education. The fresh appointments based on the approval of Mr. President were confirmed on Wednesday in a statement to newsmen in Abuja by the Director, Press And Public Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Bem Goong.
According to the statement, the President appointed new chief executives for the National Commission For Mass Literacy, Adult And Non-Formal Education; the National Library; and the National Teachers Institute.
All three appointments are effective from September 2, 2021 and are for an initial period of five years.
The statement noted that the President also gave approval for the reappointment of the Registrar/CEO, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, for a second and final tenure of five years, with effect from Aug. 1 while Prof. Bashir Usman has been reappointed as the Executive Secretary, National Commission For Nomadic Education, for a second and final tenure of five years.
He listed the new appointees as: Prof. Akpama Ibar as Executive Secretary, National Commission For Mass Literacy, Adult And Non-Formal Education; Prof. Chinwe Anunobi, Director/CEO, National Library; and Prof. Musa Maitafsir as Director/CEO, National Teachers Institute.

”All the three appointments took effect from the Sept. 2 and would each be for an initial tenure of five years,” he added.
Goong in the statement observed that the appointments are part of efforts to strengthen the delivery machinery of programmes in the education sector.
