Police Uncover Robbery Syndicate Using House Maids To Rob Rich People

Police Intelligence operatives from the Lagos State Command have uncovered a robbery syndicate, which specialized in using house maids as ploy to target and rob rich people of their properties worth millions of Naira in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Police unmasked the syndicate after 16-month intensive and tasking investigation, which took them to both within and outside Lagos State.

The investigation eventually yielded result as one of the prime suspects and a housemaid, Ms Alice Udey, was eventually arrested and detained for interrogation over her conduct and activities of the syndicate.

The 33-year old suspect, Ms Alice Udey, was employed as a housemaid in Ikoyi area of Lagos through an agent suspected to be one of their gang members. Within 24hours, she studied the whole house, gained entry into the employer’s bedroom and stole $60,000 Dollars, which in Naira is over N102m.

After stealing the money, she escaped and the matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action and eventually arrested her one year after she allegedly committed the offence.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect and the ongoing investigation over the matter.

The image maker stated that before her arrest, the Police carried out an extensive 16-month investigation that has exposed what authorities suspect is an organised crime ring targeting rich Nigerian households.

He stated that the 33-year old lady has been arrested over the alleged theft of jewellery valued at over $60,000 from her employer, after working as a maid for less than 24 hours in Lagos State.

“On Sunday, 27th October, 2024, Ms Alice Udey, who allegedly goes by several other fake names, was taken into custody at the Ikoyi Police Station, Lagos, in connection with the theft that occurred over a year ago.”

“The suspect, Alice Udey, got employed as a domestic worker after the employer recruited her from an agency. However, she allegedly disappeared the next day along with valuable jewelry belonging to her employer.”

“The suspect is expected to face charges related to theft while investigation continues in order to apprehend other suspects now at large” Hundeyin stated.
