BREAKING: Antonio Conte Confirmed As New Head Coach Of Tottenham

Antonio Conte has been appointed Tottenham Hotspur head coach after the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday. The Athletic understands Conte has agreed a deal to manage Spurs on an 18-month contract, with the option to extend by an additional 12 months if the club qualifies for the Champions League.

Conte, 52, signed his contract on Tuesday morning and will lead training later this afternoon.

Conte, who previously won the Premier League title with Chelsea, was also a contender to replace Jose Mourinho in north London earlier this year.

Conte, 52, talked in detail about his ambitions and his plans, as well as how he would get the players fitter, impressing Daniel Levy, Fabio Paratici and the rest of the Premier League club’s hierarchy.

But Conte had second thoughts about succeeding Mourinho and by early June talks collapsed.

His appointment is a significant coup for Levy and Paratici. Conte’s two years in charge of Chelsea saw them win the Premier League title in 2016-17 and the FA Cup the following season.

He left Inter Milan over the summer after guiding them to the 2020-21 Serie A title.

Spurs sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday after only four months in charge, following a disspiriting 3-0 defeat by Manchester United in north London on Saturday.

Coaches Ian Cathro, Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias have also been relieved of their duties.
