Pius Anyim, Peter Obi, and Other South-East Presidential Aspirants Unite For PDP Ticket In 2023

They made the request after their meeting in Abuja on Saturday.

Peoples Democratic Party presidential contenders from Nigeria’s South-East region have urged that the party’s presidential ticket for 2023 be allotted to their region.

According to NEWSDIRECT, they made the proposal during their meeting in Abuja on Saturday.

Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Mr Peter Obi, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze were among the aspirants who attended the meeting.

“We have committed to work together as a team and that we will work together to guarantee that a South Easterner emerges as the PDP flag bearer,” Anyim stated after reading the four aspirants’ decisions.

According to Senator Anyim, the presidential candidates’ other decisions include: “We aim to communicate with other zones on this problem, and it is based on fairness and equity.”

“It’s worth noting that we’ve always supported other zones, and we now expect them to do the same for us.”

“We believe that other hopefuls may have gotten PDP forms, and we hope that they will join us later.”

“When we reach to the bridge, we will cross it,” Anyim said in response to a reporter’s query on whether they were working toward presenting a consensus candidate from among them. We will work together in the interests of the Party, the people and serves the national interest as well as the interests of the South East.”

When questioned if the governors of the South-East PDP were in favor of the meeting, the former Senate President said the aspirants were not in a position to speak for them.
