Bandits: Niger Police Kill Notorious Informant, 3 Others

During a gun battle in Dogon Fadama, Kontagora Local Government Area of the State, the Niger Police anti-banditry unit murdered a prominent bandits’ informant, Buba Baromi, along with three others.

On Tuesday, Baromi was killed down at his hideout in the Damba Forest area of the State, according to the DAILY POST.

Baromi and his party were kidnapped and transferred to a hospital where he was recovering from gunshot wounds acquired in earlier clashes with security forces.

The anti-banditry team was directed to his hiding by local hunters in the area, according to the DAILY POST.

According to a source, while Baromi was slain on the second day of the gunfight, the other members of his gang were killed by police on the first day.

The diseased, according to the source, was not only a bandit’s informant, but was also involved in bringing them to specific regions where they would assault and kidnap individuals.

“He led bandits to rustle cattle and attack communities at Dogon Fadama. During those attacks, many innocent lives were lost,” the source said.

Baromi, it was also learnt, was responsible for the attacks unleashed on communities at Dogon Fadama in the middle of last month.

It was further gathered that it was during one of the encounters with the security team that the deseased informant sustained a gunshot wound and took off to his hideout in the Forest, where he was receiving treatment.

His corpse has been deposited in the hospital in Kontagora area of the state.

Efforts to reach the State Police command through the Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun failed.
