NAF Reacts To Boko Haram’s Claim On Missing Fighter Jet

The Nigerian Air Force has dismissed claims that the missing Alpha jet– NAF 475 was shot down by Boko Haram.

During an operation around the Sambisa Forest in Borno State on Wednesday, the aircraft disappeared from radar.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations, said the footage in circulation may be from a previous incident.

In a statement released on Friday, Gabkwet confirmed that there was no proof that the plane belonged to NAF.

The video’s lush vegetation suggests it wasn’t shot in the Northeast, according to the spokesman.

“We’re not going to speculate until we get all of these facts straightened out.

“We’re waiting until they do something and release the clips piece by piece,” he said.

The pilots have families, according to Gabkwet, and the military can only go to them with “concrete facts.”

In a video released by Boko Haram, an insurgent is seen standing on the wreckage of an aircraft.

The Nigerian flag and the number NAF 475 were displayed on the fuselage. A burned military uniformed corpse is seen.

The militant said, “This is the pilot of your aircraft, whom you sent to hurt the servant of God.”

“God disciplined him in this way. If you do not repent, he will fall from the sky, and this will be your punishment.”
