Makinde, Saraki, Arapaja, others grace unveiling of Peoples Democratic Institute

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and others are currently at the inauguration of the Board of Governors and the unveiling of the road map for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) holding at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The PDI was founded 23 years ago. According to the Director General of the PDI, Dr Edward Adie, the Institute has undergone all processes to make it legal and has the capacity to relate with international organisations all over the world.

A search by News Direct on the PDI website revealed that “The PDI is to promote a new democratic culture in Nigeria and Africa through the provision of value-added education, training, capacity building, research, and documentation programmes.

“The PDI is not a governmental organisation. It will, however, function as a stakeholder in the global democratic space, contributing towards democratic growth through collaboration with distinguished partners from both government and non-governmental organisations to develop skills and capacities to engage the policy process as stipulated by the Nigerian constitution, the PDP’s constitution, and international democratic principles and conventions.

News Direct reports that PDI will also invest in voter education, research, party development, funding, and self-sufficiency.
